Theater Lights & Unique Sights
Day 1:
Arrive in Burnsville with a stop at Abdallah Candies & Gifts, to see the hand dipping and hand-molding process of candy making. Sample chocolates and browse through the gift shop. You will also have time to stop by Touch of Home Furnishings where you can browse through handcrafted items, antiques, wreaths, candles and more. Then check-in to your hotel, and freshen up for the evening activities.
This evening, dine at Old Country Buffet and then head off to the Plymouth Playhouse for a humorous fun-filled play.
Day 2:
Begin your morning with a visit to Grace Church in Eden Prairie for a guided tour of a new “megachurch”. View the worship center with seating for 4,500 people. Then it is off to Lakewood Cemetery & Chapel to tour the Byzantine-style chapel and marvel at the mosaic work, considered to be the finest examples of mosaic work in the nation. Your guide will also take you through this upscale cemetery to the grave sites of Hubert H. Humphrey, the Pillsbury’s of Pillsbury flour notoriety, Franklin Mars, creator of the Mars and Milky Way candy bars, Tiny Tim and others. This tour has been called one of the “Top Ten Tours” in the Twin Cities. You will also want to admire the Lake Harriet Rose Garden and the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens before returning to Burnsville.
Once you are back in Burnsville, enjoy a light lunch in one of the Heart of the City restaurants like Jensen’s Cafe. Top off your afternoon with a tour of the incredible Burnsville Performing Arts Center in Nicollet Commons Park and a little shopping at Ficus & Fig gift store.
Return to your hotel and freshen up before catching dinner and a show at Old Log Theater.
Day 3:
Travel to St. Paul to spend the morning at the Science Museum of Minnesota, one of the top 5 science and learning museums in the world.
In the afternoon, visit the Minnesota History Center which features “Minnesota 150,” a major exhibit highlighting 150 people, places, events and things that made significant change in Minnesota and the world, and numerous other exhibits.
Spend your final evening enjoying a magnificent dinner and taking in a full-scale musical production at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres.
Day 4:
Return home with wonderful memories of your "Theater Lights & Unique Sights" tour.
