John and Betty Adamich Box Office
Open Monday-Friday from 9am - 5pm, the Ames box office is staffed with highly trained personnel that can help you with your ticket purchase or pick-up. Avid performance-goers themselves; they can also steer you in the right direction when you are attempting to select future performances to attend. The north entrance hallway is also a good spot to learn about what’s coming soon on the ever-changing Ames performance schedule.
Black Box Theatre
Some performances are just better up close and personal. The intimate 150-seat Black Box Theatre is the perfect way to experience smaller performances. It is also home base for quality local theatre through Burnsville’s own community theatre organization, the Chameleon Theatre Circle.
The oversized dressing rooms at Ames are a whirlwind of activity on show days. Wigs, make-up and costumes are in constant motion as performers ready themselves to hit the stage!
Main Proscenium Theatre
The Main Stage at Ames can best be described as impressive. Its rich red, orange and green seats are inviting and the gold detailing near the stage draws all eyes. With 1,014 seats, it is the largest of the theatres. Outfitted with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems; it provides superb acoustics and sightlines for all patrons. The Ames Center hosts cultural events, dramas, comedies, dance and musical acts from local arts organizations as well as national touring artists; from rock to ballet - there’s something for everyone!
The scene and prop shop is where the magic begins! It is here that all scenery is constructed and stored for theatrical plays, music shows and other performances. If you get the chance to check it out, be sure to watch your step, it gets crazy busy around here on show nights!
Main Theatre Backstage
Theatre Tech Booths
There is a reason that they give Oscars™ for lighting and sound. No performance would be the same without the drama that both bring. The tech booths at the Ames Center are positioned perfectly behind the audience to afford optimum sound to all patrons.
Ames Center Bar/Concessions
Plan to arrive early for your show and enjoy the variety of refreshments available at The Ames Center Bar/Concessions. They open an hour before show time and remain open until the second half of a show begins. Their enticing offerings include wine, liquor, beer, Pepsi products and a variety of chips and candy favorites. Watch for new popcorn and dessert menu options coming soon!
A performer’s dream! The rehearsal room is an 1,800-square-foot space, complete with mirrors and ballet barres on the walls, and a sprung maple floor. In addition to a warm-up and rehearsal space, the rehearsal room is also the perfect spot for small events and classes.
The green room is a common area backstage where the actors, performers, musicians and crew can relax before and during the show. The origin of the term is often attributed to such rooms historically being painted green. The modern "green room" is usually not green at all. The green room at the Ames Center is a multi-use room, often used for meeting and event space as well.
Ames Center Art Gallery
What? An art gallery in a performance center? Yes! The Ames Center boasts a lovely 2,000 square foot gallery that is free to the public. The mission of this gallery is to celebrate the visual arts by displaying a diverse collection of artwork from local emerging and professional artists.
Second Floor Atrium
Talk about impressive! The second floor atrium reception atrium is a stunning space perfect for gatherings up to 280 seated patrons for banquets, receptions as well as trade show display space. The floor to ceiling windows offer outstanding views of Nicollet Commons Park, the Minnesota River Valley and the Minneapolis making it the perfect spot to hang out during a performance intermission!
Looking to impress a big client? Look no further. The VIP Suite located on the north end of the second floor atrium next to the open air balcony offers a private, impressive VIP setting for board meetings or an intimate formal dinner. In this VIP PRIVATE RESERVE, conversations are easy and the views to the Minneapolis cityscape are on the horizon.
